DIRECTIONS TO NEWCASTLE FROM SYDNEY BY ROAD
(approx 1½ hrs drive from Wahroonga end of the freeway)
Leave Sydney along F3 freeway following the signs to Newcastle.
Exit the freeway at the Newcastle/Wallsend junction (About 20-30 minutes after the Caltex service station).
Follow the signs in to Newcastle via the Link Road. This will eventually bring you to the Thomas Street Roundabout ( Formula 1 hotel on the RHS)
Straight on along Thomas Street until you come to the first roundabout , turn right into Newcastle Road ( following signs for City Centre). You will pass through a major set of traffic lights along side the Jesmond Shopping Centre (LHS), over another major roundabout, up a hill (still on Newcastle Road).
Keep straight along this road following City Centre signs - eventually becomes Griffiths Road. Eventually you will pass the Newcastle Entertainment Centre (RHS).
Around here, the road becomes Donald Street. You will be passing through the suburb of Hamilton. Keep straight on following the same road.
You will eventually come into Parry Street, then King Street.
Keep straight on along King Street until you arrive right in the CBD and you will see Civic Park on your RHS and City Hall (a beautiful historic, sandstone building) on the LHS.
