3) ATEC Welcome Function - Harbour Delights at Honeysuckle
Experience Newcastle's 'hottest' restaurant district. The Honeysuckle Precinct is located right on the harbour Boardwalk - the place to be seen with its modern and sophisticated exterior its industrial harbour setting.

Enjoy an inspired menu designed around the Hunter's celebrated produce, with excellent-quality local beverage to match. Your ticket entitles you to roam the district and experience all the delights.

Continue the party at Club Qantas, ATEC Symposium's premier after hours networking venue will this year be held at Terminal One, one of Newcastle's funky nightspots in the Honeysuckle Restaurant Precinct.


 
 

4) Destination Showcase Evening - Mad Hatter's Garden Party... ATEC in Hunterland

ATEC and the Hunter Region invite you to a Destination Showcase of massive proportions - at the biggest display gardens in the southern hemisphere - Hunter Valley Gardens. Join us for gourmet food and magnificent wine and beer from the region, including Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens.

This is a garden party with a difference - wear the quirkiest hat you can find or dress for the occasion in full 'Alice in Wonderland' fashion. Prizes will be given to those who dress with imagination, whether mad or not.

The event is in an outdoor setting - warm clothes and flat shoes would be appropriate.

5) ATEC Gala Dinner

The final event of Symposium 2008 - enjoy the finest Hunter food, wine and hospitality at Wests Convention Centre.

Many companies prefer to have two delegates in attendance at a workshop appointment. A 'share' workshop delegate attends appointments with a full fee-paying workshop colleague. To register as a 'share' delegate, there must already be a company colleague registered as a full fee-paying workshop delegate. Share workshop delegate is a three day package.
YES - here are the facts:

Supplier registration costs and transport costs incurred while attending the 2008 ATEC Symposium qualify as claimable expenses under the EMDG scheme, provided that the supplier's attendance is for the purpose of promoting to inbound tour operators.

ALL cancellations or changes to registrations MUST be submitted in writing to the ATEC Events Department via email to: joanne.troy@atec.net.au

NB: Any cancellations from workshop registrations after the outlined deadlines will be invoiced accordingly. Any outstanding accounts will prevent delegates from attending future workshop components at ATEC national events.

The ATEC Symposium registration desk will be located in the City Hall.

Once the initial registration has been made you must send all additional registrations or changes through ATEC National Office as no changes are permitted online. Email joanne.troy@atec.net.au to make additional reqmests and provide credit card details.
Workshop preferencing
Workshop preferencing will be launched on 14 March 2008 and will continue until 31 March 2008. On-line preferencing will not be accepted after 5.30pm on Thursday 31 March 2008.
'Sensational Seven'
YES! The registration fee is $660 incl, GST. A maximum of 12 ATEC supplier companies will be permitted. The deadline for registration is Friday 14 April 2008. 'New' ATEC members are strongly encouraged to participate - this is a great opportunity to reach over 130 inbound tour operators in one presentation.

Australian product suppliers have the opportunity to make a unique 'sensational seven minute' presentation to 130 inbound tour operators in a theatre-style setting. Using the full audiovisual resources at your disposal, this is your opportunity to promote your message to every ITO at the Symposium. Be creative, humorous, dress up, hire performers etc

- There are only twelve positions available in the 'Sensational Seven' session.
- Suppliers are encouraged to use an interesting or unique presentation style.

Symposium format
Tuesday 29 April - Backpacker conference, golf day, lawn bowls, industry partners meeting

Wednesday 30 April - National ITO/ supplier workshops session, Harbour Delights @ Honeysuckle, Club Qantas

Thursday 01 April - Plenary, various concurrent market stream sessions, followed by Destination Showcase in The Hunter

Friday 02 April - Breakout sessions, various educational sessions and closing Plenary. Followed by the Gala Dinner and Club Qantas
 
You do not need to register for these seminars. These are cutting edge one-hour seminars on hot inbound topics. Delegates choose on the day which breakout session to attend.

This year we will repeat the market steams so that delegates have the opportunity to attend at least two.  These are an intense information session designed to allow for in-depth analysis of key markets, including presentations from in-market experts, a panel discussion and Q&A.

Inbound Tour Operators

A sponsored ITO: ATEC will provide the flights and accommodation for four days in Newcastle. Sponsored ITOs have the obligation to attend a pre- and post-familiarisation and must be a senior decision-maker. It is compulsory to attend the following functions to ensure you have a productive and successful event to meet your obligations:

•          National workshops - Full day attendance - 50 appointments
•          Attendance at all plenary & business sessions
•          Attendance to Harbour Delights @ Honeysuckle

•          Lunch and morning and afternoon tea Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

•          Attendance at the Destination Showcase in The Hunter 
•          Attend Friday evening ATEC Gala Dinner
•          Can attend both pre or post familiarisation

Non-sponsored ITO: is a delegate who will not be attending workshops or presentations. Delegates will pay their own flights and accommodation and attend as a conference delegate.

Accommodation and Transfers
YES. Delegates will be transported from selected hotels* to the following:

•          Destination showcase function in the Hunter Valley
•          Friday Gala Dinner & return

All other functions will be held within the Civic Precinct and are within close walking distance from ATEC sponsor hotels.

Dress codes

For business and plenary sessions, business/smart casual attire is acceptable.

More information will be available in regards to dress for the Thursday Destination Showcase evening and the ATEC Gala Dinner on Friday night.

Remember to dress for the cooler weather. Don't forget your wet weather gear, jackets for cooler nights and umbrellas just in case!

ATEC Membership
No, you do not need to be a member to attend the ATEC Symposium conference. However, non-members are unable to attend the workshop component.
